Blood Bound
(Book Two of the House Millar series)
by Áine P Massie
How many ways can a hearts true love be shared? After poisoning, near death attacks, consummated passions, and possible insanity visit Anya, Nicholas, and Declán they embark on their future. Or at least they try to. Jealousy can be a pain, in more ways than one.
Can Anya protect her lovers, find peace within herself, and lead the House Millar? With her loves and guards, Nicholas and Declán, she sets out to do just that. If only life, eternal life, were that easy.
Come take a walk with our loving family and witness the strange turns and twists as life, love, and passions collide with greed, politics, and evil.
Excerpt
“Again!” Geoff barked. His voice was annoyed, as usual. He had me training like Declán, though I did not train with Declán. They – Geoff, Jonathan, Nicholas, and Louie – had all certified Declán ‘insane and ready’ to actually use his skills for something other than ‘playing’ with them. Annoyingly enough, I was still not allowed to even watch him practice. “This time pretend you actually want to do damage,” Geoff sighed.
Scowling back at him I retook my stance. I was not allowed to speak; that was considered cheating. We were working on one-on-one combat today, though I still did not see why. If it was not at least small groups then why would I need, physically, to fight?
“The rules of engagement are simple – strike. No mercy – strike. Once the commitment is made – kill. Don’t let them touch you – destroy. You cannot appear weak – annihilate. There will be times you cannot rely on your voice for one reason or another as you saw already during your rescue of Nicholas. Also, it might help you focus some of those cravings that have awakened within you . . .” Geoff continued with his lecture as he attacked again. He claimed that I need to learn to not hyper-focus on just the combat. That I must learn to hear and see all around me, never letting my focus settle for too long.
Running forward I dropped down and caught him hard in the hip, spinning him up and back into a wall. Seemed he was not expecting that form of attack. He rolled before I could get to him again but he was not able to make it up more than onto his hands and knees. With a growl, I landed atop him, slamming him to the ground, knees in his back with my nails pressed into the back of his neck, though remembering to not actually dig them in. From seemingly out of nowhere I was suddenly pulled back and slammed to the floor. I didn't even feel the hit though. It did not register at first who was holding me but I managed to evade the attempt to pin me.
The growling continued as I flipped around landing a solid kick to the ribs of my more recent attacker while trying to keep up with where Geoff was. He again attempted to strike at me, catching my arm enough to cause mild pain but not to actually hold me, allowing me to spin out of his grasp and avoid the attempted blow to my back from who I now realized was Nicholas.
It didn’t matter that there were now two attackers coming from different directions, a simple leap up to grab the beam above and the two crashed into each other instead of me. Memories of trainings I had had before may be lacking but my instincts to survive worked just fine, much to everyone’s confusion and annoyance.
Dropping back down and into a low crouch, I moved forward as they untangled their legs quickly. Springing on Nicholas, I slammed him down on top of Geoff and bent to nip the back of his neck before sliding away. “Stop,” I commanded.
Both Nicholas and Geoff stopped moving. They weren’t even breathing. Hum, Nicholas was bleeding, guess I should do something to fix that.

Censorship and PayPal
Censorship and PayPal - Censorship and PayPal.
That's all I've been reading about. I've drained my PayPal acct and when I've confirmed the money's in my bank I'm severing my ties to PayPal. It's going to be as annoying as hell - it's like another credit card. But I'm going to have to figure out how to deal.
Some chicken invisible power is pressuring PayPal who pressured Bookstrand etc. PayPal should have had the guts to stand up and say no - they caved.
Everyone can state they have the right blah blah blah - PayPal is a banking service and they are pressuring the booksellers - who it seems also have no balls.
You can pompously state the booksellers have the moral right not to sell the books - but that fact falls flat on it's face AFTER THE FACT THAT THEY'VE MADE HOW MUCH MONEY ON ALL THOSE AUTHORS.
Their morals are less virtous than an underpaid hooker's.
Here's another person's view - she explains it all.

Pirating and Censorship
Got a topic – or two – to write about today. I feel I can now call myself an author. Why? Well I have 3 published books, and am struggling through my first major case of writer's block and ... I've been pirated and censored.
Several weeks ago a friend was checking for her books at a pirate site and she thought to check for me – and yup – Daryl Devore's been pirated. A Kept Woman and Sexy Red Hood were the two she found.
I know book piracy is a big issue – so I did a little research
At one file-sharing website, users have uploaded 1,830 copies of three books by a popular young adult author. Just one of those copies has had 4,208 downloads. On the same site, 7,130 copies of the late Michael Crichton’s novels have been uploaded, and the first 10 copies have been downloaded 15,174 times.
Even if only a fraction of the downloads from this and dozens of other file-sharing websites represent actual lost sales, they still translate into a staggering amount of royalties that have been stolen from authors.” (http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/23/book-piracy-a-non-issue/)
One source says media piracy is costing the US economy $58 billion in losses every year. That’s billion with a B. Every year. (http://www.rachellegardner.com/2011/11/authors-and-book-piracy/ )
And one interesting article suggested that – book piracy is actually like free advertising. Which leads me off in a different direction. Print books have always been easy to get without having to pay the author. No, I don't mean shoplifting. Garage sales, church bazaars, school fund raisers have been places where you can pick up a book for .25, but none of that fee is going back to the author.
So I guess this is an issue that doesn’t have an easy answer. I'm all for publishers and authors tracking down the pirate sites and "closing" them (yea I know they pop up elsewhere – but at least it feels good for a few moments.) But I am also good with friends loaning friends my books. Someone who lends Black Dorn to a friend may have created a fan who'll buy my next book. Then that new fan will loan it to a friend and so on.
Other topic – I've been censored. A while back, I tweeted and facebooked – might have blogged – about PayPal telling Bookstrand to take down "those kind" of books. I read an email this morning from Patricia Green saying Bookstrand has removed hers. Off I went to check and when I tried to get to Sexy Red Hood – this is what I found
404 Error - Page Not Found
The page you were seeking could not be found.
Please visit the homepage at http://www.bookstrand.com or try a search for the item you were trying to find
That knocked me on my ass. Other Erotic Romances are there – I'm not. Did big mean Bookstrand not like me complaining about them.
So – let's really piss them off – don't buy your books there. Amazon, All Romance Ebooks and Smashwords don't seem to have a problem at the moment – purchase your books where they didn't cave to PayPal's pressure.
And if at all possible – cancel your Paypal acct.
Now I have to go email my publisher – because they pay me through PayPal and I think I'd like to close my Paypal acct.

And a P.S. Blog
I got slammed the other day when I tried to join a tribe because my blogs aren't long enough. She called them Tweets.
She said I could write some more and she'd check back to see if I'd improved.
Ain't gonna happen
I'll write what I want to write. How long I want to write it. And---when the hell I want to write it.
Have a great weekend everybody.

Horny Hump Wednesday :-)
Giving a tiny tease from my lastest wip. Now if I could just finish it.
The luxurious pace of the slow fuck didn't vary. Dildo glided in, rubbed across my g-spot. Explosive fire tapped my clit.

Three handsome Hogs and a very hot Wolf
Jenna Jaxon's Twisted Fairy Tale – HOG WILD – is a fast paced sexual thrill ride. Lula Wolfendale needs to get to the Harley-Davidson Rally to get an itch fixed. Along the way, she meets the 3 Hogue brothers. Having satisfied the baby brother, blown away the middle one, she meets her match with the big bad brother.
HOG WILD is an adult version of the Three Little Pigs. But it's not the hog's homes the wolf blows down. The adventure is filled with motorcycles, bulging jeans and delightful twist at the end.
I highly recommend HOG WILD. The writing is tight and the characters are exotic and erotic.
A bit of advice, you'll need a lot of ice tea to sip to stay cool while reading it.

With Love, Valentines Day BlogHop
Welcome to my blog – Erotic Notions. Hope you're enjoying the Valentine's Day Hop.
Today's topic being Love – I'm going to quote from the ultimate pedagogues – The Beatles – Lennon/McCartney to be specific
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Romance stories – whether sweet or super hot erotic – all have a base – the love. It is what ties the two protagonists of the story together and makes everything alright.
Notice I said "protagonist" - not woman and man. In today's world that could be woman and werewolf – vampire and man – woman and woman – man and man – woman and man and werewolf – and on and on.
But still, it's the love between them that writers like to create and readers love to lose themselves in.
Love is what makes the world go 'round. (Unless you're Sheldon from Big Bang Theory and then its conservation of angular momentum – but we won't go there)
Some of the greatest minds of our times have thought about love –
"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."
Dr. Seuss
So get out your old 45s, or LPs, 8-track tapes, cassettes, CDs and ipods – find your Beatles – click on All You Need is Love and everybody start singing.
For a chance to win my erotic e-romance – Sexy Red Hood – leave your email and the name of your favourite love song or romantic movie.
Here's a G-rated snippet –
"I wasn't focused yesterday. But today, I'm Michael Jackson!" Chopper stepped right and left and snapped his fingers.
"Little Red Riding Hood.
You sure are looking good.
You're everything that a big, bad wolf could want."
He spun around and posed, one arm at his crotch and flung the other up in the air. "Owooooooo!"
Trying to keep a straight face, Red asked, "You aren't going to send in an application for American Idol, are you? Oh, and maybe not for that dance show thing, either."
"What, you don't like my dancin'?" He shook his knees in and out and flapped his arms like a chicken, then made two-handed stirring motions, like he was in front of a large cauldron. "Why are you laughing? I'm just getting started." He leaned forward and jerked up his right hand. "It's called the lawn mower. But, if you do it this way…" He straightened and repeated the pulling motion. "Then it's called the chain saw. Oh. Oh. And now for the big finale. The Moonwalk."
He slid his right foot back and popped his left heel, then slid that foot back. Red had to admit he did a good version of Michael's famous move – until he backed into the waiter and knocked a tray of drinks onto the passengers seated near her.
Enjoy your Day.
Happy Blog hopping.
I'm off to eat Valentine chocolates.

Lisa Kumar - Bound by the Mist
In Lisa Kumar's, Bound by the Mist, human meets elf. No, not the cute little guys in big funny shoes – tall muscular princely ones. In a wonderful romance mixed with playful banter, great scenery and a really hot elf Prince, the reader is pulled into another dimension along with Cal as she tries to comprehend a new world, new customs and the puzzling ways of elf-speak. Read Lisa's blurb and extract to discover more about this romance that's a dream and reality all at the same time.
Daryl, thanks for having me on your blog so I can share the blurb and an excerpt from my latest release. Bound by the Mist is a full-length fantasy romance that starts out in modern day Wisconsin and soon lands the reader in the elvin land of Eria.
So that everybody knows what the story is about, here’s the blurb:
A magic that's fading
Relian has lived a life that hasn’t changed in millennia, and he likes it that way. As Prince of the Erian people, he has his conscripted duties. And a human, even one as desirable as Cal, does not fit into them. But as the enemy darkindred knock on the borders and the magic of his people fades, he might just have to find room.
A love that's binding
College Student Cal Weston spends a good portion of her time trying to keep people from thinking she's crazy, including herself. And with good reason. But her carefully constructed reality is turned upside down when she discovers that Relian, the seductive elvin prince who has been starring in her sensuous fantasies, isn’t merely a myth and his magical kingdom really exists. Now she’s bound to an elf and stuck in a land where no one, least of all Relian, is willing to spill any answers about the truth of her arrival.
Two people, two worlds meet in the mist
Even as love grows between them, can they lay aside their differences to embrace a life together?
Now on to the excerpt. Here, Cal discovers that no matter where she goes, she can’t ignore the past—or the future.
Cal gritted her teeth. The cheap strobe light that flashed in one corner of the room sent pin- pricks of pain through her eyes. She should’ve never let Maggie and some other friends talk her into coming to this house party. But it was Friday, and she made it through the week without any strange occurrences. Well, except for the bracelet that wouldn’t come off, no matter what she tried or used on it. A blowtorch probably wouldn’t harm a hair on its head.
She smiled wryly. She hadn’t exercised that option yet. But she’d tried many others, much to her detriment.
Once the shock of the bracelet’s appearance had worn off, anger had won out over any guilt. She’d attacked the offending piece of jewelry with scissors, only to become furious when they failed to make a cut. In her fervor she accidentally nicked her wrist more than once before finally admitting defeat, at least for the time being. She’d had to leave it be since she didn’t want to injure herself beyond repair.
She fingered the bracelet through the long-sleeve shirt she wore to cover up the scratches. Frowning, she yanked her hand away. If only she could tear her thoughts away so easily. While dreams didn’t haunt her as before, her mind definitely flouted her control. She thought about him all the time. Damn, had she been naive enough to think she could come and celebrate her “normal” week when she wasn’t normal at all? Not that she was into the party scene, but she—like any red-blooded girl—enjoyed the attentions of good-looking young men. Never had so many shown an interest in her before, but she couldn’t muster up the slightest bit of interest in any of them. They weren’t...Relian.
She fought off another set of persistent hands. God, she needed to find Maggie and return home, with or without her. The lights, the music, the guys – her nerves were cracking. When she’d freed herself, she stalked through the throng of people. Out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw Maggie’s light golden-brown hair.
Turning to go in that direction, Cal stumbled to a stop.
Just ahead of her, slightly off to the left in a corner, was a familiar soft mist. Like a marionette on a string, it drew her. When she neared, just discernable were tumultuous gray eyes that glared in a pinched face.
Cal shook her head at the accusation in his gaze. “I didn’t ask for this.” She didn’t know if she meant the party and the over-eager guys, or him and his crazy world of dreams and mists.
“I’m sorry.” Her apology came out a whisper. Turning, she shoved through the crowd toward the exit.
Again, thanks, Daryl—and thanks to anyone who stopped by to learn a little about my newest story!

Horny Hump Wednesday
From my twisted fairy tale – Sexy Red Hood
Chopper and Red's lips met with a hungry passion as his tongue slipped into her mouth. Red moaned as their tongues danced together.
Kneeling between her legs, Will ran his fingers teasingly up and down the insides of her thighs

An Introverted Writer
Earlier I posted a blog I found about introverts and I said I'd post about it later – well later has finally arrived. I'm an introvert. I'm shyer than shy and when I read the introvert blog I was – that's me! that's me!
Don't worry I'm not going to blog about my shyness – too shy to do so anyway. I have recently discovered that my shyness that "tongue-ties" my fingers when I type.
My characters tend to be quiet like I am because I don't know how to be outgoing, loud and brazen. I watch how people interact and I see that trait, but when I get down to writing it, my shyness comes out my fingertips.
In my world, the characters would meet, stand there mutely for a few minutes and then move on.
BUT – after a couple chapters, they'd open up and great prose would pour from their lips. That's how an introvert is, give us enough time and we'll talk.
I envy the shy writers who can create wild and crazy characters. How do they step out of their shyness and create people so far from their basic personality?
In Sexy Red, I created Chopper – a shy, bumbling character, 26 years old on a senior's cruise and quite content to be there, as he won't have to mingle with his peers. The male version of me.
It is something that I am going to try and work on – no promises, I've been shy longer than I've been a writer.
Have you discovered a personality trait that affects your writing?
By the way – Happy Ground Hog Day – Wiarton Willy just predicted an early spring.
